You’ve written out your goals and your intentions are good but for some reason you can’t seem to follow through to finish what you start. Procrastination has become a bad habit and you lack commitment to your goals causing you to quit soon after you start.
The number one reason you’re not getting as much done as you would like is because you don’t have anyone holding you accountable.
Even though you believe in your mind every time you start over that this time will be different, you can never seem to follow through.
You’re frustrated because you’re tired of starting over, time and time again.
You’re ready for change. You're ready to get stuff done. You need an accountability partner.
An accountability partner will push you when you can't push yourself. They will check in on you and encourage you to keep going when you feel like quitting. They will ask you about the goals you said you wanted to accomplish and when you plan to have them done.
Think about it.. if you’re the only one who knows about what you’re working on, if you decide to quit then the only person that knows about it is you.
You have no one to answer to and you just keep starting over, again and again.
You have nothing to lose, except knowing you let yourself down.
When you have someone holding you accountable, you're more likely to get stuff done because you have someone to report to.
It’s just something about not wanting to tell someone else you didn’t do something that you said you were going to do that will push you to take action.
I know you're grown and you don't want to answer to nobody, but if you're ready to change your life then you need lose your pride and find someone to help you on your journey.
Getting an accountability partner will be just the kick in the butt you need to commit to your goals. Now whether you hire a coach or use a friend, find someone that will push you to your next level.
Personally, I have a number of people that I report to from a mentor/coach, mastermind group, and a few friends that I met online where we touch base on a weekly basis.
I'm also accountable to you because every month I share my monthly goals and what I'm working on. This is not just another post for me to add to the blog, I share because when I put it out into the world what I'm working on, I'm more motivated to get it done.
And I don't want to let you down and more importantly let myself down.
Now you may be thinking, Siobhan that sure is a lot of people to be accountable to. Well, for me I need it.
I know me, and I will procrastinate and put things off if I don't have someone asking about what I'm doing.
Plus, I'm a woman of my word, so if I say I'm going to do something, you can best believe I'm going to get it done.
In 2014, I completed almost all of the goals that I set for myself and I’m on pace this year to do the same thing.
One way I'm able to get stuff done and be productive is because of my accountability team. I’ll be sharing with you in a future post what else is helping me stay on track to accomplish my goals.
I understood very early when starting my business that if what I was doing wasn't working then I needed to try a different approach.
It all boils down to what’s important to you. If you want your life to be different and you're tired of the same old routine, then I highly recommend that you find someone that will push you out of your comfort zone.
Stay tuned next week I'll share with you what you need to look for in an accountability partner.
Do you have an accountability partner? If so, how have you benefited from having them in your life?
