I am excited to announce that my little business BeFree Project is growing and I want to introduce you to the Girl Be Free Shop. In just a few days you'll be able to purchase t-shirts, tote bags, and mugs that will empower you to be free.
How Girl Be Free was birthed
Last summer one of my closest friends and I was chatting on the phone about a cool saying she wanted to put on a t-shirt. We were throwing around ideas, how she should get started and having good girl talk like we always do.
As we were chatting I told her how I wanted to create t-shirts for BeFree Project something that would empower women to be free and help market my brand.
I told her I needed something catchy that ladies would love and be proud to wear. I said to her, "You know how everyone is always saying "girl bye!" (including me!) I want something that sticks like that and aligns with my brand."
We tossed around some ideas and before you know it "girl be free" was birthed.
I immediately fell in love with the phrase and wanted to hit the ground running with putting it on everything, tees, mugs, totes, you name it. lol
I just knew since I loved it so much my BFF's (BeFree Family) would love it too and would want to wear it too. I reached out to my besties and shared my idea with them and they thought it was so cute and could see themselves wearing it.
When I got home that evening I purchased the URL from GoDaddy and then snatched up the social media handles before someone else thought of my idea. To my surprise everything was available. Yay!
Why I had to press pause and wait
Whenever I have a great idea, I am ready to stop everything that I am working on so I can focus all my energy on my new exciting project.
A few days later I hopped on my weekly accountability call with my biz bestie and told her all about my new t-shirt idea and how excited I was to get started.
She stopped me dead in my tracks and brought me back to reality. She reminded me of all the things I was working on and how creating an online shop was not a goal that I was working on.
She also said it would take a lot of work and it's not something I want to just throw together.
Plus she knew I had a ton of things on my plate and I was still trying to figure out how I wanted to move forward in my business.
I was disappointed but I knew she was right and whenever you're putting something out in the world timing is everything. So I listened to her because at the end of the day I knew she was on point with her response and because she knows me, she knew I would be overextending myself if I added anything else to my already full plate.
I'm learning that every idea that I have doesn't need to be put out in the world the moment I think of it. I need to sit on it for awhile, quietly build behind the scenes and when the timing is right, I'll know.
Even though I decided to hold off on launching the shop, I reached out to my branding bestie and asked her to design a logo for "girl be free" plus create a few t-shirts and mugs for me.
I did this because I didn't want to forget about my idea and I wanted to be inspired to move forward when I felt the time was right.
Fast forward a year later, as I started wearing my branded BeFree Project t-shirts to the BeFree LifeClass and networking events, people started asking where could they get a shirt. Or they would compliment me on my shirt and said how they couldn't wait to have their own.
I started paying attention to what people were saying online and offline and I set a goal for 2017 to launch the Girl Be Free Shop. I only shared this goal with a few people because I didn't have an exact date nor did I know how I was going to get it done.
I quietly started doing the work and I hired Takenya to set up my online shop because my schedule was pretty packed with 1:1 coaching, hosting events and so much more. And to be totally honest I didn't want to learn how to do it, I just wanted it done.
Next, I scheduled a photo shoot with my favorite photographer so when it was time to promote my products I had high-quality images and I could launch with excellence.
I've been anticipating this moment and I am excited to announce that the Girl Be Free Shop officially opens, Friday, June 30th. Yay!
THE NEW DIRECTION OF BEFREE PROJECT
If you read last weeks newsletter then you know I decided to let go of the 1:1 coaching so I can focus more on things that make me come alive and that brings me joy.
This was a difficult move to make since 1:1 coaching was one of the main ways I made money in my business, however, the thrill is gone and it doesn't excite me the way it did when I started my business 3 years ago.
When I am teaching groups of women at a time and speaking at events, I am on cloud 9 and I wanted to experience more of that feeling in my business. I want to do work that I am passionate about and I want to help as many women as I can.
I know this was the best decision for me because when I put it out there that effective July 1st I would no longer be offering 1:1 coaching doors began to open for me and it was confirmation that I was moving in the right direction.
The last BeFree LifeClass sold out which that's something I've never done before. I've partnered with two business owners to assist me with my events and I've been asked to teach a series of workshops at the Women's Business Center. Oh and I'm having my first out of state event in NC in the Fall.
Moving forward my focus will be on hosting in-person events, the BeFree LifeClass, BeFree Meetups, online group coaching and of course the Girl Be Free Shop.
What you can expect
The Girl Be Free Shop will have t-shirts, tote bags, mugs and conscious gifts that will empower you to be free. It's simply an extension of BeFree Project where you will be inspired to live the life you were created to live.
My mission is to provide women with the tools and resources they need to live their best life. I am so glad that I didn't rush the process and I waited for the perfect time to launch this new project. Be sure to head over to the store on June 30th to get your girl be free merchandise.
Be free & Live!
