When did you start your blog/business?
February 26, 2014 is the special date.
What triggered you to pursue your dreams and begin creating the life you want?
I was materially pleased, but emotionally and internally displeased with where my life was headed. Eventually, I cried out to God to save me from myself, which led to an increased desire to know and pursue my purpose.
What do you enjoy most about living life on your own terms?
I enjoy the adventure, creativity and freedom that comes with pursuing my purpose. Although, it requires mental, physical and spiritual discipline, plus humility, I wouldn’t trade the peace I have for anything.
How are you living out your purpose?
I’m a few months away from graduating with my Master’s in Divinity. This degree process has been instrumental in helping me enjoy, embrace and claim who I am as a woman. My increased self-awareness and God-awareness has helped to build my speaking and written voice, which ultimately led to the birth of my blog, www.tiffytalks.com --I’m also interning at UrbanPromise, where I coach teen girls on self-acceptance and self-love, as well as other helpful topics, to boost their confidence and interpersonal skills. Lastly, I speak at churches, colleges and conferences when requested. It’s an exciting time for me!
Describe an a-ha moment.
Recently, I had to sit and not respond to several of my peer’s critiques of my written work. It was a very humbling experience. This was a big a-ha! for me. It’s so important to receive constructive criticism. I could really see that my peers respect my voice and my work, and their insights encouraged me to continue to give what I have to give because it matters!
What does being free mean to you?
Being free is having joy in knowing that God loves you. You’re aware of your purpose and you’re living it out. It’s also when you can stand in front of the mirror and sincerely enjoy and embrace your reflection because the person you’ve become is not only beautiful, but is also doing her best to express beauty in how she lives, and loves others. This level of freedom to me is unmatched!
What has been your biggest challenge pursuing your purpose?
The biggest challenge was letting go of specific people and their perceptions of me.
What does your ideal day look like?
My ideal day includes light exercise, eating three meals, inspiring people through my blog or social media platforms, laughing hysterically at something, a flirtatious text or call from a love interest, and receiving a new contract to speak at a women’s conference.
What’s one thing that you want people to know about you or your business?
I don’t do boxes! Well, those little blue boxes are cool.
What is your biggest fear? And how do you overcome your fears?
Doing work that I don’t love.
How do you stay encouraged?
I constantly pray for guidance, provision and the ability to persevere, amongst other things.
What are you most proud of?
Being a mother and taking the leap of faith to discover me, and my purpose.
How do you support other women?
For the past three years, I’ve been coaching an amazing group of millennial women called the “TwentySomethings.” I also support and sponsor women’s conferences and workshops, and I support other female bloggers and entrepreneurs, and have welcomed some of them to be guest and co-blog on my site.
What is your favorite affirmation or quote?
“Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!” ~Luke 1:45
What exciting things do you have planned for 2015?
Besides graduating, 2015 is all about celebrating my personal and professional growth. I’m also thrilled to be launching my first e-book this spring, and I’m looking forward to springing forth with some new seminars and coaching services.
