When did you start your blog/business?

I started my blog in July 2013. The thought came to me that I should begin putting my thoughts on paper and this is how FIRE was born. {Faith In Renewing Each Other}

What triggered you to pursue your dreams and begin creating the life you want?

The trigger for me was going through my divorce in 2012 and I began to think about and reflect on all the things I put on hold, put off and overlooked by pouring so much of myself out there and I had nothing left to show for it. I realized that I had been holding back on my dreams and I wasn’t seeing the full picture and living my life to my potential. I also have two children to think about and I wanted to be a good example for them and I could not go on crying and functioning out of control on a daily basis.

What do you enjoy most about living life on your own terms?

I mostly enjoy the freedom of living my life on my own terms. I wake up and I am free to do and pursue the things that I enjoy such as helping people, working with kids and writing. I am now able to really see my purpose and it has come full circle with the recent release of my first book, A Life With A View in January 2015.

How are you living out your purpose?

I am living out my purpose by connecting with people who I admire and working on my spiritual foundation. Through my writing, I believe that I am not only healing myself but also healing others. That is the biggest reward for me ~ writing for healing purposes. I post to my blog at least twice each week and I worked on my book for 18 months. I’ve always wanted to write a book and I didn’t think I would do it – but I did! I continue to write on my blog each week and I listen to people, connect and talk with them to see what their needs are. Most of the time the things that they express that they need help with, I need the same things if not more. So this helps me as well.

Describe an a-ha moment.

My a-ha moment came at the end of 2013 as we were moving into January 2014. I woke up and realized that a certain worry was gone from my mind and I tried to pin point it. The New Year really forced me to face the things I was afraid of with the biggest one being rejection. When I say rejection I mean that I wouldn’t be accepted as a blogger, a writer, a friend, a colleague and the list went on. The a-ha for me was when I realized I already had those things and I was good at them…I was just waiting to be told I was good. It was like a switch just turned on for me and I stopped chasing after the compliments and I began to choose myself; no longer waiting to be chosen.

What has been your biggest challenge pursuing your purpose?

My biggest challenge in pursuing my purpose is finding the time. I am recently divorced, single mom with two children. My children and I have a very full life with school, sports activities, church activities and my full-time job. I have to find the time when I can to write and develop content. Fortunately for me, the writing bug can hit at any time {like now!} and I just go for it.

How do you stay encouraged?

I stay encouraged through prayer and working to put into practice what I write about. I also surround myself with very positive people who inspire me to be better and keep going. When I have those moments of doubt, I turn to them, I turn to my writings and inner peace to remain encouraged. I work constantly to rebuild and renew my peace.

What are you most proud of?

I am most proud of the courage that I had to walk away from an unhealthy and unhappy situation. Many people told me I was crazy to want to pursue being happy and why would I not stay with someone that did not love me? I couldn’t believe that I even considered answering that question. Courage is the thing that I am most proud of since courage gave me the strength to press on and get out of an unhealthy situation after several years. For that, I am most thankful.

How do you support other women?

I support other women by listening to their stories, being open with them and supporting their dreams and goals. I recently started a series on my blog called FIRE Spotlight where I spotlight up and coming women (and men) who are working towards their goals whether it be writing a book, starting a blog, an online business, opening a restaurant or catering business – I try to be there for them and share ideas.  I am also a supporter of my friends who are very established authors, bloggers and writers by purchasing their books and supporting their many venues.

What does being free mean to you?

Being free means that you live life on purpose realizing that there will be ups and downs and it is part of your growth and struggle…and the struggle to grow. Being free means that you live it, breathe it, feel it, internalize it knowing that what you do matters and you are free to try and continue to do new and exciting things in life.

What exciting things do you have planned for 2015?

For 2015, I have some exciting things planned! With the release of my first book, A Life With A View, I will market my book-to-book stores, online resources and also do book signings and in-person marketing. I also plan to keep writing on my blog and expanding my content to a deeper level so I can continue to help others as well as myself. I really want to continue spotlighting other people following their dreams and let them that they too can define their own success. I would also love to launch a website where A Life With A View is the portal for my blog, my book and resources to help people fulfill their dreams and goals.
