Last night I hosted a live call where I shared the five steps I took to get unstuck in order to begin creating the life I wanted. I get asked often whether via email or in person, how did I make the shift to begin living a more fulfilling life and more specifically what steps did I take to change my life.
Each persons journey is going to be different, but hopefully you’ll be able to take something away and apply it to your life.
My journey hasn’t been easy by any means, it’s a process and now that I know what it feels like to be genuinely happy inside and out I want to help as many women as I can begin to create the life they desire and ultimately be free.
5 steps I took to get unstuck
1. I GOT PROFESSIONAL HELP
I’ve shared a little here and there that I’ve had somewhat of a dysfunctional childhood and it caused me to be mentally and emotionally stuck for a long time.
Often times when things happen in our lives it’s hard for us to move past it depending on the severity of whatever happened. We’re taught not to talk about certain things that may have happened to us and eventually we’ll get over it and be ok.
Well after seventeen years of feeling emotionally and mentally stuck I wasn’t feeling any better. I decided to talk to a therapist and I also went to group counseling to help me heal from my past so I could move forward. This was one of the best decisions I could have ever made for myself.
2.I GOT TO KNOW SIOBHAN
I began to fall in love with me. I started taking time to focus on what I wanted for my life and also what I didn’t want. I got in tune with who I was by journaling, praying and meditating. Some of the questions I started asking myself was, Who was I? What was my “why” for being here? What made me come alive? What was my purpose in life? What were my natural gifts? What made me internally happy?
3. I STARTED SHIFTING MY MINDSET
I knew that I had to start feeding my mind and spirit with information that would help me grow. I wanted my life to change and in order for that to happen I had to change my perspective on life and make a commitment to be a life student. I began reading personal development and self help books to begin to nourish my mind. I followed bloggers and read magazines that inspired me to be better. I understood that I had the power to change my life and create the life I wanted.
4. I CHECKED MY CIRCLE AND WHAT I ALLOW IN MY SPIRIT
I took a look at the people I was spending the most time with to make sure there was no negative energy in my space. I was solely focused on being positive and attracting positive energy. I became more conscious of what I watched on TV and what I was consuming on daily basis. At that time I also deactivated my Facebook account and I even changed my eating habits and became a pescatarian.
5. I TOOK ACTION
I started doing the work. I could no longer hope and dream that my life would change without taking any action. I know that I’m 100% responsible for my life and if I wanted my life to be different then I had to do something different.
I refuse to ever be stuck again and this is why I’m so passionate about helping women create the life they want. Now, I’m on the other side where every day I wake up excited about my life because I know my purpose is to empower women.
I’ve surveyed women to find out what was keeping them stuck, and 85% of the women that I surveyed said they lack motivation and they procrastinate a lot. I created the 10 Life Hacks To Getting Unstuck Checklist to help you start taking steps in the right direction.
